As preparations are underway to open our 6th clinic in O’Fallon, MO, we celebrate the contributions of our staff members and realize how important they are to our success. As a service industry, we are only as good as the team of physical therapists and front office team members we employ. Therefore, it’s with great pleasure that we introduce our newest team member. Jennifer Urnikis is a physical therapist with nearly 19 years of clinical experience. She will be directing the new O’Fallon, MO physical therapy clinic located just north of Highway 40 on Highway K.
She realized that her career would be in Sports Medicine during her years as a high school athlete. Like many, she realized that physical therapy would be a great fit for her personally and professionally. She hasn’t looked back since. When asked why physical therapy is a rewarding career, she states, “Connections with people. We spend a lot of time with our patients and creating a true connection with them is so vital. If we don’t understand what motivates a person and what they want to achieve, I think a big piece of the puzzle is missing.” Along those lines, Jennifer is well-known in the physical therapy landscape in St. Charles county because of her ability to connect with patients on multiple levels. She has a reputation for receiving a hand-shake, a hug, and a huge “thank you” after her patients graduate from therapy.
It’s this connection with patients that also helps Jennifer during the challenging times as a therapist. “Patients can have bad days, bad weeks. That’s tough, especially when managing vestibular dysfunction, where patients can experience major changes in their lives and we don’t always know what the recovery timeline looks like,” she notes.
When asked about joining the Axes Physical Therapy team in O’Fallon, MO, Jen notes that it’s the experienced team that she’s working with that impacted her decision. “I have the opportunity to work with and collaborate with therapists who are amazing,” she comments.
Jennifer specializes in vestibular assessment and treatment, including concussion recovery. As a former softball player and mother of young gymnasts, she also enjoys treating sports related, orthopedic and post-surgical conditions. She will open the doors of her new clinic on August 13, 2018 and will immediately make an impact on her patients’ lives. Call 636-206-6540 to schedule today.
