Axes Gives Back: Gateway180
At Axes Physical Therapy, serving the Greater St. Louis community means more than delivering top-tier physical and occupational therapy. Each month our Axes Physical Therapy Foundation makes a staff-nominated monetary donation to a local nonprofit that’s changing lives.
For July 2025, we’re proud to stand with Gateway 180 | Homelessness Reversed—the region’s largest emergency shelter dedicated to women, children, and families.
What Gateway 180 Does
Founded in 1977, Gateway 180 operates a 130-bed shelter in downtown St. Louis and provides about 45,000 nights of safe housing every year. Beyond a place to sleep, families receive:

Daily meals & basic necessities

On-site case management to secure income, IDs, and medical care

Rapid-rehousing support—help with deposits, furnishings, and ongoing coaching so families can move into and stay in permanent housing
The mission is simple yet powerful: empower adults and families to become independent and permanently housed—ending the cycle of family homelessness in St. Louis.
Why This Matters
Homelessness is complex, but its effects are easy to see: interrupted schooling, job loss, mental-health strain, and chronic illness. As a healthcare organization focused on movement and quality of life, Axes knows stability is the foundation for good health. Supporting Gateway 180 means helping kids get to class on time, parents get back to work, and entire families regain safety and dignity.
How Axes Is Helping
Throughout July, Axes team members are contributing through automatic payroll deductions. 100 percent of our monetary gift goes directly to Gateway 180, allowing the shelter to purchase the most-needed items—whether that’s new twin-sheet sets, bus passes, or a security deposit that keeps a family housed for good.
