Taping methods have been used for more than 30 years using a variety of techniques and materials to correct movement, improve positioning, provide support and promote healing. Kinesio Taping® exploded onto the scene following the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The incidence of athletes with brightly colored strips of tape applied to various parts of their body has increased dramatically in recent years.

The Kinesio Taping® technique is designed to facilitate the body’s healing process, while providing support and propriceptive effects for the wearer. For years, therapists have been applying tape to shoulders, hips, backs and knees in an effort to control motion and promote proper movement patterns. Kinesio Taping® has similar effects, while promoting the ability to affect healing by increasing interstitial space, increasing circulation and promoting healing.
