Axes is a small, locally owned and operated physical therapy company serving our communities in the Greater St. Louis area. We’re fortunate to be able to offer our services at 20 locations, with the mission to help as many people as possible. Our profession is all about helping others and giving back. Through the service of physical and occupational therapy, we give our patients’ their livelihoods, lifestyles, and abilities back.
Since giving back is the fundamental reason that our organization exists, it was important to the ownership and staff of Axes Physical Therapy to make sure that we are doing all that we can to give back to the communities we love. In addition to our “Wear Jeans, Change Lives” initiative that raises funds for a different local charity each month, Axes also participates in several physical goods drives. Every fall season, we support Operation Food Search. From NOW through November 20, all 20 Axes facilities will serve as drop off destinations for donations.
Operation Food Search distributes more than $31 million worth of food and necessities each year to 330 community partners in 27 Missouri and Illinois counties. Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search (OFS) is a hunger relief organization that provides free food, nutrition education and innovative programs proven to reduce food insecurity. With a strategic focus aimed at ending childhood hunger, OFS empowers families and increases access to healthy and affordable food. The agency provides food and services to 200,000 individuals on a monthly basis – one-third of whom are children.
Acceptable donations are as follows…
- Light Tuna & Salmon (canned & pouches) & Canned Chicken
- Soup, Chili, Stews with Meat/Beans (a meal in a can)
- Canned fruit (in natural juices)
- Diced Tomatoes, Tomato Paste, Canned Spaghetti Sauces
- Canned beans (low sodium appreciated)
- Instant Brown Rice, Whole Wheat Pasta Boxed Meal Kits
- Canned Vegetables
- Dried Spices: chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, oregano, basil Deodorant, Toothbrushes & Toothpaste
- (**No glass containers, cans/boxes only, no ramen noodles)
Hunger is a serious problem in the bi-state region, but it is solvable. With the help of our partners, volunteers and donors, we’re working together to build a healthier and more vibrant region.
