Axes Gives Back: Supporting The BackStoppers

At Axes Physical Therapy, helping people is at the center of everything we do. As a locally owned physical and occupational therapy provider serving the Greater St. Louis region, our mission goes far beyond the clinic walls. Through our Axes Gives Back initiative, we partner with charitable organizations throughout the year that make a meaningful difference in our community.
For March 2026, Axes Physical Therapy is proud to support The BackStoppers, a St. Louis-based nonprofit that provides critical financial assistance to the families of fallen first responders.
Throughout the month, Axes team members will participate in our “Wear Jeans. Change Lives.” initiative, raising funds to support this incredible organization and the families they serve.
About The BackStoppers
Founded in 1959, The BackStoppers provides ongoing financial assistance and emotional support to the families of first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
When tragedy strikes, The BackStoppers steps in to ensure that surviving families never have to face the future alone. Their support includes financial assistance for everyday living expenses, educational costs for children, and long-term guidance to help families rebuild their lives.
Today, The BackStoppers supports more than 100 families and over 80 dependent children throughout Missouri and southern Illinois.
The organization serves families of fallen:
- Police officers
- Firefighters
- Paramedics
- EMTs
- Public safety personnel
By covering essential expenses such as housing, utilities, insurance, and education, The BackStoppers helps provide stability and security during the most difficult times imaginable.

This Cause Matters to St. Louis
The BackStoppers is deeply rooted in the St. Louis community. The organization supports families across more than 100 police and fire departments throughout Missouri and southern Illinois.
These brave first responders dedicate their lives to protecting our communities. When the unthinkable happens, The BackStoppers ensures their families are cared for with dignity, compassion, and long-term support.
At Axes Physical Therapy, we are proud to operate 23 locations throughout the Greater St. Louis area, and we are committed to supporting the people and organizations that help make our communities stronger.
How Axes Gives Back
Our Axes Gives Back program highlights a different nonprofit organization each month. Through staff participation, awareness campaigns, and community engagement, we aim to support causes that align with our mission of helping people live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
In addition to our monthly charitable initiatives, Axes Physical Therapy also participates in community drives, fundraising events, and vaious charity sponsorship opportunities throughout the year.
